Open Lecture: Women of Distinction: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander female artists

 

概要：

2025年6月25日、女子美術大学杉並キャンパス7号館において、教養・共通専門研究室と国際センターの共催、オーストラリア大使館の後援の下、講演会が開催されました。「卓越した女性たち アボリジナルおよびトレス海峡島民の女性アーティスト」と題したこ の講演会には、オーストラリアのクイーンズランド州立美術館 / 近代美術館(QAGOMA)のオーストラリア先住民アート、アソシエイト・キュレーター、ソフィア・サンボノ氏が招かれました。この講演会は、女子美術大学の外国招聘特別講師プログラムの一環として企画され、企画者であるリンダ・デニス教授が司会を務めました。

 

この講演会はクイーンズランド州立美術館/近代美術館（QAGOMA)で開催中の2部構成のコレクション展、「sis:Pacific Art 1980-2023」展に関するものです。女性アーティスト間の連帯関係を築く上でのコラボレーションの重要性や、アジア・パシフィック・トリエンナーレのシリーズを通した女性アーティストとの長期的な関係構築が、QAGOMAによる地域のアーティストやコミュニティとのかかわり方、コレクションの構築方法にどのような先導的な役割を果たしてきたかについてご紹介しました。

 

本講演は、オーストラリアのクイーンズランド州立美術館/近代美術館コレクションにあるアボリジナルおよびトレス海峡島民の先駆的な女性アーティストを称えて。近年の展覧会で紹介されたジュディ・ワトソン、メイヴィス・ンガラメッタ、シャーリー・マクナマラをはじめ、革新的なハーマンズバーグの陶芸家たちなど、傑出したアーティストたちの作品を紹介します。

ソフィア・サンボノ氏は、第10回および第11回アジア・パシフィック・トリエンナーレ（APT）において、オーストラリア先住民アートの代表キュレーターを務めた経験を持ち、オーストラリア先住民の視点からのコレクション管理や芸術振興にも取り組んでいます。近年の主な企画展に、「Seeds and Sovereignty」  (2024年)、「Danie Mellor: marru | the unseen visible」（2025年）、「ingkwia tjaiya, lyaartinya tjaiya (old way, new way): 30 Years of Hermannsburg Pottery in the Collection」（2025年）などがあります。

Open Lecture: Women of Distinction: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander female artists

 

On June 25, 2025, a lecture was held in Building 7 of the Suginami Campus of Joshibi University of Art and Design, co-hosted by the Liberal Arts and Interdisciplinary Education Unit and the Center for International Relations of Joshibi University with Official Support from the Australian Embassy. Titled “Women of Distinction: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander female artists”, the lecture featured Sophia SAMBONO, Associate Curator of Indigenous Australian Art at the Queensland Art Gallery / Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA) in Australia. The lecture was held as part of Joshibi University of Art and Design’s International Special Lecture Program, planned by Professor Linda DENNIS, who also served as moderator.

 

This lecture celebrates the trailblazing Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander female artists in the Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art Collection. Exploring the work of outstanding artists in recent exhibitions, including Judy WATSON, Mavis NGALLAMETTA, Shirley MacNAMARA, and the innovative Hermannsburg Potters.

 

Sophia SAMBONO was an Indigenous Australian Art representative for 10th and 11th Asia Pacific Art Triennial Curatoriums, and her work includes collections care and advocacy from a First Nations perspective. Her recent exhibitions include ‘Seeds and Sovereignty’ (2024), ‘Danie Mellor: marru | the unseen visible’ (2025), and ‘ingkwia tjaiya, lyaartinya tjaiya (old way, new way): 30 Years of Hermannsburg Pottery in the Collection’ (2025).
