概要：
2024年6月5日、女子美術大学杉並キャンパス7号館において、教養・共通専門研究室と国際 支援センターの共催、オーストラリア大使館の後援の下、講演会が開催されました。「ヘイ、シスー太平洋でのつながり作り」と題したこ の講演会には、オーストラリアのクイーンズランド州立美術館 / 近代美術館(QAGOMA)の太平洋美術キュレーター、ルース・マクドゥーガル氏が招かれました。 この講演会は、女子美術大学の外国招聘特別講師プログラムの一環として企画され、企画者であるリンダ・デニス教授が司会を務めました。マクドゥーガル氏は女性アーティストやグループとのコラボレーションにおいて長い経歴があり、創造力の多様性を大切にしています。
この講演会はクイーンズランド州立美術館/近代美術館（QAGOMA)で開催中の2部構成のコレクション展、「sis:Pacific Art 1980-2023」展に関するものです。女性アーティスト間の連帯関係を築く上でのコラボレーションの重要性や、アジア・パシフィック・トリエンナーレのシリーズを通した女性アーティストとの長期的な関係構築が、QAG/GoMAによる地域のアーティストやコミュニティとのかかわり方、コレクションの構築方法にどのような先導的な役割を果たしてきたかについてご紹介しました。

Title: hey sis - creating connections in the Pacific
On June 5, 2024, a lecture was held in Building 7 of the Suginami Campus of Joshibi University of Art and Design, co-hosted by the Liberal Arts and Interdisciplinary Education Unit and the Center for International Relations of Joshibi University with Official Support from the Australian Embassy. Titled “hey sis - creating connections in the Pacific”, the lecture featured Ruth MCDOUGALL, curator of Pacific Art at the Queensland Art Gallery / Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA) in Australia. The lecture was held as part of Joshibi University of Art and Design’s International Special Lecture Program, planned by Professor Linda DENNIS, who also served as moderator. Over the years, McDOUGALL has a long history of collaborating with women artists and collectives and celebrates creative diversity.
This lecture engages with the two-part collection exhibition sis: Pacific Art 1980-2023 currently on display at the Gallery of Modern Art in Brisbane. Focussing on the work of a number of the 40 artists in the exhibition, the lecture highlights the importance of collaboration in creating a sisterhood of solidarity, and how building long-term relationships with these sista’s has influenced the ways in which QAGOMA curators engage with artists and communities in this region.
